Important Spring Updates
Insured & Uninsured Wheat
If your wheat is insured and you are harvesting wheat for forage or destroying the wheat crop to plant to another crop, please notify Fennig – Homan Agribusiness immediately so an adjuster can be notified for an appraisal on the wheat crop. This appraisal must be done before you harvest or destroy the wheat crop. These appraisals are done for reporting production and or paying a possible loss if a loss is present. Failure to have wheat appraised will result in an assigned yield of 65% of T-yield. Call Fennig - Homan to setup appraisal at 800-595-3629.
Cover Crops
If you are harvesting a cover crop for forage and intend to plant those acres to another crop, the second crop is insurable. Rules for insuring a spring crop following a cover crop are as follows: A cover crop is a crop that was planted within the last 12 months from the time the insurable crop was planted. The cover crop must be terminated within 5 days after the insurable crop was planted. Cover crops are not to be harvested as grain. Production harvested as grain from cover crop acres will be considered production to count at loss time against insured acres. If you have any questions call 800-595-3629.
Corn & Soybean Acreage Reporting and Replant Procedures
Please contact Fennig Homan Agribusiness once planting is completed to report acres and plant dates. Prior to replanting any corn or soybean acres Fennig Homan Agribusiness must be notified so a claim can be submitted and assigned to an adjuster. The adjuster must give pre-approval prior to any acres being replanted. Failure to get pre-approval will result in denial of replant claim payment. A signed acreage reporting form must be submitted before any replant claim payment is made.
